I just finished watching episode 2 of To Aru Kagaku No Railgun and I must say I am still interested in this anime. I have seen To Aru Majutsu no Index ( which I might add was excellent). But this anime… well it seems even better!

Being a side story, Railgun still follows Kamachi’s original story set in Academy City, a city where about 80% of its 230,000 citizens are students. The story deals with the adventures of Misaka Mikoto, one of the Level 5 espars (psychics) in the To Aru Majutsu no Index light novels.

Episode 1 focusses on introducing Misaka’s electrical powers and the relationships she begins making with Shirai Kuroko who calls Misaka “big sister” (but looks like she is in “lesbian” love with her.) Towards the end of the first episode you learn that Misaka is the number 3 highest level 5 espar in Academy City and is known by the nick name “Railgun”.

Episode 2 is basically one of those “lets learn about the characters and how they know each other”. The beginning of the episode was a little frightening by the way Shirai was talking about Misaka and her’s one month anniversary. The anime seems to get to be a bit strange in this episode, but it was still enjoyable.
