Pokémon: Best Wishes! Episode 5

October 19, 2010

Ash and Irish finally arrive in Sanyo City. Sanyo City is home to the first Isshu gym. It is here that Ash finds out that he must battle against three twin waiters for the Tri Badge. The gym battle was split into three parts, since there are three waiters. If you didn’t guess from the title, the three gym leaders each use the meme monkey which goes alongside their hair color and type.

I have to admit, the moment I saw this episode I strongly thought it would be one of those lame battles where Satoshi wins until gym leader does last minute save and that lot…but even the part where Pikachu was being beaten felt realistic. Yes, Pikachu is easily the strongest Pokemon on his team at the moment…but if Pikachu doesn’t get a chance to attack, that’s not very useful.  My grip this time is with how stupid Satoshi was when choosing his Pokemon…okay, so he didn’t want to use the pidgeon. At the very least, he could have done some thought and used Mijumaru first and Pokabu last to give him the advantage..even Iris saw that it was a very “interesting” choice of who he picked to use. But whatever, I expected some form of stupidity from him this episode. It’s left at a “to be continued” when Dent’s got Ash’s last Pokemon on the edge of defeat…keep quiet about the fact we all know Satoshi wins. Whilst thats going on, my good old’ Team Rocket is back to being pro badguys, as they infiltrate the sewers of the city to receive a top secret message from their boss telling them to go after the Dream Smoke in the old ruins.
